The Perpetual BetaMatteo Balzani’s weblog

I love Johnathan Coe. I read almost all his books.
It sounds like a disclaimer, and in fact I loved this one too, The Closed Circle.

If you’ve read The Rotter’s Club you just can’t miss this one, but even if it’s the first Coe’s book you read it makes perfectly sense.

I really think Coe is one of the best writers of these years: he has the ability to use different registers, tones, jargons and to be at the same time always himself.
All his books are ironical, deep, moving, hilarious… Simply wonderfully written!
How does he do that?

I realize this reviews says  pretty much  nothing, so just grab a copy and read it! That’s the only way :)
